Modelling Aspects Of The Coal Industry
This book contains lots of photos and text including actual plans for building a colliery headframe
and a washery/screens.
Most useful are the many photos showing collieries and associated buildings from around the country.

This book contains plenty photos of colliery locos, wagons and buildings.
Particularly interesting are the photos of an actual model colliery which just goes to show what can be achieved with a little time and work.


The Collieries Of Northumberland Vol 1
This book focusses more on colliery history, ie, when featured colliery shafts were sunk, colliery disasters working conditions etc but there are still some very useful photos and facts.
If you are thinking about building a model colliery these six books will make a very useful addition to your bookshelf.







Another very useful book, a Birthday present from my Son, this book concentrates on colliery and associated lines, it also shows various colliery buildings, locos and wagons.

The Collieries Of Northumberland vol 2
Follow on from Vol 1,this book covers other collieries
in the Northumberland coalfield, Bedlington D, Cambois, Ellington and Lynemouth as well as others.
As with volume 1 there are plenty of reference photos and informative text.

Northumberland &Durham's Last Days of Colliery Steam

A Fathers Day gift this time.
As with the other books listed on this page there are a lot of useful photos showing various steam locomotives as well as colliery buildings and wagons.
